Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

View of Colonia from a rooftop at sunset.
These are old ruins of a Franciscan monastery, and a lighthouse was built around them. It was night when we visited, so my photos didn't turn out great.

I liked this weather vane.

Rio de la Plata, in between Uruguay and Argentina. We took the ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia.

Cacti!

A pretty mosaic.

Colonia was built as a fort by Portuguese settlers. This is part of the fort.

The lighthouse.

A corner shop.
This was on the wall of an abandoned building.
Colonia is well-known for having old cars all over the place. This one had a tree growing out of it.

I liked the way the laundry looked on the line.
More old cars!

The river by day. It's very muddy, and the color looks like chocolate milk.
